NYC was awesome!

This was by far my best NYC trip ever, even if it was a little short. Lets summarize:

Friday:
I was running late to the airport (you know me) and was kinda in a bad mood since I almost forgot my boarding pass and DID forget my coat. All it took was flying over the Manhattan skyline and I was ready to party!! I got off my flight, and hurried to the cab line at LaGuardia. I had to do a double take because who was standing there right in front of me but Mara and Kirsty (friends from my canfield drama days)... I hadn't seen them in years, talk about random! We shared a cab into the city and caught up on what we've been up to for the last few years. Once in Manhattan, I rushed to the Flatotel on 52nd St to meet Ellen and Mark. We got there and our plan for the night was to drink a bit and go see the worst show on Broadway: Dracula, hoping to be able to laugh at the bad-ness. Well we drank, but the show was just terrible. Not funny, not hilarious, just BAD. After that debacle, we went out to a Karaoke bar on 55th to meet the legendary Brooke Cohol. Sid met us there, and so did Rachel (from Case) and her friend. $300, 4 hours and a private karaoke room later, we stumbled out of there only to continue the party until 6am or so. What a night!

Saturday:
Woke up to my cell phone ringing at 9:30am (mind you I went to bed around 6). It was Chantelle calling saying that she was almost in the city and that she didn't want to navigate the subway alone. I dragged myself out to go meet her (you can only imagine the state I was in.....) at Grand Central. Once thre I quickly found out what the two "surprises" were that she had waiting for me. She brought Bria and Sakura with her! That fact slightly helped my hangover/tiredness and we started to bum around the city. The four of us, plus Rachel, Amanda, and Britney decided to go bum around the village for a little bit and grab some lunch. We went down and got some awesome pizza and fought with the pigeons over it. We then visited one of the many sex shops in the village... Let me tell you, going to a sex shop with six college girls in tow is an interesting experience. At this point, Rachel left to go meet Matt, X, and Goeble in Queens and the rest of us bummed around the city some more, stopping in Chinatown before spending a few hours drinking in a very pimped out Starbucks (not all of us were drinking coffee, heh). Met up with Saj and Sid and we continued to hang around the city waiting for Rob to come in from Philly. The girls left right around the time Rob showed up and Rob, Saj, Sid and I jumped on the bus and went to Sid's new place in Jersey to get ready for Avalon. We changed/showered/etc and then went back into the city and met up with Katie, Julia, Kate, Matt, Rachel, X, and Goeble. HOLY FAIRCHILD REUNION!!!!! We went out to a bar a few blocks uptown from the Lincoln center near where Julia lives. After a few drinks with that crew, we split up and me, Sid, Rob, Saj, Rachel and X went down to Avalon to see Johan Gielen. The show was awesome, I really liked Avalon(its an old gothic style church) it was great to finally go to a show in NYC with a real crowd that actually enjoys the music. We stayed there until about 6am and went to grab some food at a diner around the corner, then we exhaustedly dragged our asses back to Sid's to pass out.

Sunday:
Went to MOMA in the early afternoon after we became alive again. It was great to see after it had been closed for so long. They had a great design/architecture section, though it was a little small. It was a nice way to decompress after such an action packed night. After MOMA, I said goodbye to Saj and Sid and met up with Ellen and Mark to go see Telly in Pacific Overtures. This made up for the Dracula as it was a really cool show. Its a Sondheim show about the westernization of Japan in the 1800s. Sounds boring, but it was really good! Afterwards we went out to dinner with Telly and he amazed us with more of his Broadway stories (including him being very close to being cast in the upcoming Rent movie).

Monday:
I wake up at 6, pack and leave the hotel (freezing my ass off) and meet Sid at his office on 57th. I grab my stuff from him and head to Newark. I was doing ok on time, especially since I was already cheked in. Well at Newark they have an AirTrain that takes you between terminals. It was not operational. Instead they had busses to do the same. Well our bus driver it seems had never been to the Newark airport before, let alone drove a bus. She drove around in circles for about 30 minutes, at one point getting on the HIGHWAY. Finally people on the bus yelled at her to stop and we got off and ran the 1/4 mile to the concourse. Needless to say I missed my flight. I spend the rest of the day in the Continental president's club working, so not all was lost. I finally arrived in Austin 11 hours late, but very glad for the warm weather.

Well, it was a great time.. .who's joining me next year??
