I realize that most people who read my blog read it in a syndicated fashion, so I thought I'd let you guys know that I plugged my del.icio.us links into the sidebar here for everyone to view. I post lots of stuff ranging from crap I want to remind myself of, to cool examples of web 2.0 ideas-- The links are as diverse as my interests, so think of it as a glimpse into the inner Joe.

SXSW Interactive

This Saturday-Tuesday I'll be attending the SXSW Interactive conference, conveniently located about 20 steps from my apartment in sunny Austin, TX. It's gonna be fun meeting the assorted crew of Internet Rockstars in attendance, and I even got the big TR to sponsor my attendance.

Any loyal readers visiting SXSW at all?

The Outdoorsmen: Blood, Sweat & Beers

BSide Entertainment, founded by a few ex-Trilogans, is a company that tracks what movies audiences love at film festivals then distributes these otherwise forgotten gems to theatres around the country allowing people to expand their movie watching horizons. If any of you attended the Austin Film Festival this year, you may remember BSide's presence powering the site in a cool Web 2.0 sort of way (blogs, profiles, etc).

The first movie they're bringing to the Alamo is "The Outdoorsmen", and it looks like fun drunken hijinks:
"The Outdoorsmen: Blood, Sweat, and Beers," a documentary that offers "some of the most laugh out loud moments experienced all year" according to efilmcritic.com, follows an exclusive group of men who travel to a top-secret location in Washington State to compete in an all-day event they call The Outdoorsmen. They battle through a series of events that combine physical challenges with beer, "the great equalizer." For the past 14 years, this dedicated group has suffered through activities such as DEATH RACE 3000, THE SHUTTLE RUN, and BLIND MAN'S BEER. Braving freezing waters, treacherous riverbeds, and the rapid consumption of over 30 cases of beer, these responsible parents, husbands, and co-workers have one weekend a year to recapture their youth, cherishing the camaraderie of their fellow Outdoorsmen.

Anyway, It's showing this Thursday (2/9) at the Alamo South Lamar at 9:45 PM. Get your tickets here

Alamo Drafthouse... #1

Entertianment Weekly published a list of the top 10 movie theatres in the country. Our very own beloved drafthouse made the #1 cut! If you're not from Austin, just know this... most people's first experience at the Alamo makes them refuse to see a movie anywhere else....This is the place where we went to see Office Space and got to smash a printer beforehand. The place where we saw Napoleon Dynamite and got our glamor shots taken (by Deb of course) and ate tater tots...

Just recently we saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory there and they offered a special menu consisting of
1: tomato soup, roast beef, blueberry pie
2: Youngs Chocolate stout float
3: A chocolate fountain in the lobby with fruit to dip in

They were also giving out free shots of moonshine in the lobby for the opening weekend of The Dukes of Hazard.

I think the Austinist summed it up nicely here:

Five-course Italian meal with your “Godfather” screening. A bottle of champagne while you watch an old Hepburn movie. Screenings you can not find anywhere else in the state. Mr. Sinus Theatre. Real melted butter on your popcorn. Buckets of beer. Cute waiters and waitresses. Old school video games in the lobby. Videoke. Dollar Monday nights. Rolling Roadshow. Midnight movies. Private parties. Buckets of beer. $2 Tuesday burger nights. Weird Wednesdays. Saturday Morning Film Club. Filmmaker Q&A's. The list is endless.

In case you can't tell, I really really really really love that place!!
